The Classic Cocktail Competition 2022
Rules of entry
Entries will be invited only to those UK hospitality individuals, who are residents in the UK aged 18 or over.
Confirmation of entry must be submitted via the Hi-Spirits website, URL www.hi-spirits.com/classiccocktailcompetition. All entries must be received by 21st August 2022 no later than 23:59 on the closing date. All entries received after the closing date will not be entered. Entries must be submitted online via www.hi-spirits.com/classiccocktailcompetition.
Competitors must create a twist on one of the cocktails from the 12 classic cocktails in The Anthology of Classic Cocktails. The twist on the classic must be made using ingredients that can be purchased online or in-store. The twist on the classic should be inspired by the competitors local hospitality scene.
Hi-Spirits Ltd will select successful entrants from the online entries to go through to local regional finals in the South, West, Midlands, North. The successful entrants will be selected by a paper judging round using judging criteria of taste description and strength of story.
Regional finalists will be notified via email by August 25th 2022.
Competitors must be available to compete at their local regional final, taking place on the following dates:
- London – 5th September
- West – 6th September
- Midlands – 12th September
- North – 13th September
Regional finals will have two rounds, competitors will make their entry twist on a classic, competitors will also be randomly assigned a cocktail from the anthology t make to their perfect recipe and garnish, without any twist.
Regional finalists must list their entry cocktail on a menu within their venue for a minimum of 4 weeks.
Judges will award the first prize to the individual from each region, with the most amount of points awarded by the judges.
Winners will be announced in person at the live regional finals.
The Prize
A minimum 2-night stay in Milan to visit the Fernet-Branca distillery. Hi-Spirits will provide food, drink and travel for the duration of the trip, including flights from a UK airport only and accommodation in a 4-star hotel. The trip will take place in May 2023.
Judging Criteria
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:
- Taste and technical ability
- Brand and cocktail knowledge
- Presentation
By entering, you hereby warrant that all information submitted in your entry is true, accurate and complete in every respect. Hi-Spirits Ltd reserves the right to verify any information contained in your entry and/or your eligibility to enter.
Hi-Spirits Ltd will not accept responsibility for entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause. No responsibility can be accepted for any technical failures of any kind or any unauthorised intervention in any part of the entry process, nor for any technical or human error, which may occur in the administration of the competitions or the processing of entries.
Eligibility
The competition is only open to all residents in the UK aged 18 and over that work within the hospitality sector.
Employees of the Promoter or any business involved or associated with the competitions, any of the Promoter’s agencies and any of their parent and/or affiliate companies as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible to enter. The Promoter reserves the right to verify entrants’ eligibility.
In the event of any dispute regarding the competitions, the decision of the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant has breached any of these Terms and Conditions.
Claiming the Prize
The winners will be notified in person at the regional finals and confirmed via email within 7 days of the last regional final (13th September 2022).
Hi-Spirits Ltd does not accept any responsibility if you are not able to take up the prize.
No prize will be awarded where any entrant has committed any form of misconduct (determined by Hi-Spirits Ltd in its sole discretion).
If Covid 19 or any other unforeseen circumstance prohibits the prize, the prize will be rescheduled, or an alternative prize will be offered.
Data protection and publicity
If you are selected as a regional finalist, you agree that Sazerac UK may use your name and image, including professional photography collected at regional finals, to announce the winner of the prize draw and for any other reasonable and related promotional purpose including media.
The Promoter is not responsible for any lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible or misdirected entries, which will be disqualified.
General
Any information submitted by you must be personal to and relate specifically to you. You hereby warrant that the information which you submit and/or distribute will not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or any other rights of any third party, and will not contain anything which is libellous, defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing or threatening.
The Promoter reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to remove and disqualify any entry that does not adhere to these Terms and Conditions.
The Promoter reserves the right to amend or withdraw the competitions if circumstances arise which are beyond its control.
The winners may be required to take part in any publicity accompanying or resulting from the competitions. By entering the competitions, you hereby assign to the Promoter the complete copyright and all other intellectual property rights whatsoever in any promotional and advertising material and similar which arises out of or is in connection with the competitions.
The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the operation of the competitions or to be acting in violation of these Terms and Conditions or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person deliberately to undermine the legitimate operation of the competitions may be a violation of criminal and civil law and, should such an attempt be made, the Promoter reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Promoter’s failure to enforce any of these Terms and Conditions shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
Except where prohibited, entrants agree that: (1) any and all claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the competitions, but in no event legal fees; and (2) under no circumstances will entrants be permitted to obtain awards for, and entrants hereby waive all rights to claim, indirect, punitive, incidental and consequential damages and any other damages, other than actual out-of-pocket expenses, and any and all rights to have damages otherwise increased.
Hi-Spirits Ltd does not accept any responsibility for accidences/ losses/ theft whilst the winners are participating in the prize.
